Identification

How to read a KUKA part number

KUKA identifies parts two ways at once: a numeric 00-xxx-xxx material number on the label, and a functional abbreviation printed on the unit itself. Knowing the abbreviations tells you what a board does before you have found any number at all.

Prefix / designationWhat it identifies
KPPKUKA Power Pack — the drive power supply in a KR C4 cabinet, feeding the DC link
KSPKUKA Servo Pack — the axis drive module; a KR C4 usually carries one for axes 1-3 and one for 4-6
KSDKUKA Servo Drive — the equivalent single-axis drive module in a KR C2 cabinet
CCUCabinet Control Unit — power distribution and cabinet-level control on KR C4 and KR C5
MFCMultiFunction Card — the KR C2 interface card between the control PC and the drive bus
DSE-IBSDigital Servo Electronics — the KR C2 servo control card that talks to the MFC
RDCResolver Digital Converter — the box in the robot base that reads axis resolvers
KPCKUKA Control PC — the industrial PC that runs KUKA System Software
SIBSafety Interface Board — the safety I/O interface, standard or extended
EMDElectronic Mastering Device — the probe used to master and re-zero axes
By controller generation

What sits in each cabinet, and what fails first

KR C2 / KR C2 ed05

2000s-era cabinet, long out of OEM support

Control PC and motherboard, MFC3 and DSE-IBS cards, KSD servo drives, KPS power supply, KCP2 pendant (00-130-547), drive and motor cables, cabinet fans. Booting faults and pendant failures dominate; both are usually repairable rather than replaceable.

KR C4 / KR C4 compact

The volume generation on Indian floors today

smartPAD (00-168-334) and its cables, KPP power packs, KSP servo packs, CCU_SR, SIB and SIB extended, control PC and its fan, RDC box and resolver cables, X11/X19/X21/X65 connectors, backup batteries. Pendant damage, cable strain and DC-link faults are the common three.

KR C5 / KR C5 micro

Current generation

smartPAD-2 (00-291-556) and cables, drive packs, CCU, control PC and safety hardware. Mostly warranty-age equipment; we source parts and handle the work OEM service will not schedule quickly.

Before you order

Send us four things and we can quote

Most wrong-part orders come from reading the robot model off the arm and stopping there. The controller generation matters as much as the robot.

  • A photo of the component label. The part number and revision are what we quote against.
  • The controller generation. KR C2 / KR C2 ed05, KR C4 / KR C4 compact, KR C5 / KR C5 micro.
  • The error code. If the part is not obviously dead, the controller message tells us more than the symptom.
  • The urgency. A line that is down and a planned shutdown in six weeks get different answers from us.

FAQ

KUKA spare parts: questions we get asked most

Which KUKA controllers do you supply spare parts for?

KR C2 and KR C2 edition05, KR C4 and KR C4 compact, and KR C5 and KR C5 micro. KR C2 generation parts are a large part of what we do, because those cells are still productive and KUKA no longer supports them.

What is the part number for a KUKA smartPAD?

The KCP4 smartPAD used on KR C4 cabinets is commonly listed as 00-168-334, and the smartPAD-2 used on KR C5 as 00-291-556. The KCP2 pendant for KR C2 is 00-130-547. Variants exist by option and revision, so send us the number from your own label and we will confirm the exact match before quoting.

My KUKA pendant keeps dropping out. Do I need a new smartPAD?

Often not. Intermittent dropouts are more frequently the connecting cable (00-181-563) or the X19 cable (00-320-104) than the pendant itself, and a failing membrane (00-216-801) can be replaced without replacing the whole unit. Swap or test the cable before you buy a pendant.

Can you repair a KUKA smartPAD instead of replacing it?

Yes. Touch screens, membranes, enabling switches, housings and cables are all repairable at component level, validated on a test rig and returned with a six-month warranty. It is usually a fraction of replacement cost, and we will tell you when it is not worth doing.

What is the difference between a KPP and a KSP?

The KPP (KUKA Power Pack) is the drive power supply that feeds the DC link in a KR C4 cabinet. The KSP (KUKA Servo Pack) is the axis drive module that actually drives the motors — a KR C4 typically carries one KSP for axes 1-3 and another for axes 4-6. A DC-link or bus fault usually points at the KPP; a single-axis fault usually points at a KSP.

Do you supply parts for KUKA robots that are out of OEM support?

Yes, and it is a core part of the business. KR C2 generation cells are still capable machines; the usual reason they get scrapped is that nobody will support them. We source refurbished stock, repair the unit you already have, or re-engineer the function — including Interbus to Profinet conversion so an older cell can sit on the same network as the rest of the plant.

Do you supply KUKA dresspacks and energy supply systems?

Yes — complete packs, retraction systems, corrugated hose from NW 29 to NW 95, end fittings, brackets, ball clamps and sleeving, for arc welding, spot welding, pneumatic and vacuum handling, built to the application rather than sold as a fixed kit.

Do you ship KUKA spare parts across India?

Yes, anywhere in India from our Pune facility, and into Europe through our branch in Germany. Lead times are quoted up front rather than after you order.
